Margaret Fraser - Secretary

Margaret was educated in Glasgow, Scotland and has a background in Community Education.  She and her family moved to Canada in 1983.

For over 30 years, Margaret has worked extensively in key administrative positions in the Non-Profit/Voluntary sector including programs for frail seniors, youth at risk, adult literacy, newcomers and people with mental and physical disabilities.

Margaret has recently retired as the Executive Director of the Federation of Community Organizations of HRM, (FOCO) which is an umbrella group representing the interests of the Voluntary/non-profit sector.

As the Executive Director of FOCO Margaret represented Nova Scotia's Voluntary Sector in a variety of capacities. As member of the Nova Scotia Volunteer Community Advisory Council she was involved in making recommendations to the Nova Scotia Government on how best to work with volunteers and the voluntary sector agencies that support them.

Margaret has always enjoyed the “broad picture” vision of working in, and with, community.
